Chairman’s Message
ROSS ABRAHAM – INC CHAIRMAN
I have just returned from cycling off road
across this great nation of Australia,
raising money and awareness for both
Beautiful Crazy and Global Care. I got
to meet some of the most amazing
people while traversing some of the
harshest conditions imaginable. There
were lots of laughs but there were also
plenty of tears. Tears not only for our
loss but tears shared with other Aussies
I encountered who got to share their
pain filled stories.
Last year at our 50th celebration we got
some insight into the early years of INC/
COC, the sacrifices, the raw faith and
the tears that were shed for the nations.
I believe with every fibre of my being
that God is still looking for a people
who are moved by what moves Him.
He isn’t impressed by self promotion,
selfish ambition, desiring notoriety or
climbing the corporate Kingdom ladder. He has never loved us according
to our church size, Instagram followers or speaking invitations, yet it’s so
easy to believe that lie. The gravitational drift of Christian organisations is
often toward a preoccupation with budgets, buildings, brands and bottoms
on seats, all which need our attention,
however I’m certain that’s not what
drove God to send Jesus, His only Son,
to die for us.
“Those who sow in tears shall reap in
joy.” Psalm 126
Our tears are seeds. Tears flow where
solutions cease, and what we cry about
shows what we care about.
Maybe what we need are our hearts to
break for what breaks His? Maybe we
need to find those places in our hearts
that use to be alive and invite the Holy
Spirit to plough up the hard soil, and
give that space back to Him.
Many years ago, the Salvation Army
sent workers to Los Angeles to bring the
gospel to some of the worst parts of the
city. After labouring for three years, they
sent a telegram to the founder, William Booth, letting him know that they
had tried every technique and every strategy yet had seen no fruit. They
asked him if they could move to another station and take on another city.
Booth sent back a telegram with a two-word response, “Try tears.”
